The easy explanation of autoimmune disease is briefly is the body’s immune system working against its own tissues causing prolonged inflammation and tissue destruction. Some of the common conditions of autoimmune disease is:

  • Lupus,
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis,
  • Psoriasis,
  • Celiac Disease,
  • Thyroiditis,
  • Cellulitis,
  • Immuno- Deficiency,
  • Diabetes,
  • Anemia,
  • Addison’s disease,
  • Fibromyalgia and many more.

The basic pathway of Autoimmune Dysfunction results in the following.

Genetic, Exposure to heavy metals, pesticides, herbicides, chemical fertilizer. The water we drink and the air we breathe are full of toxic chemicals. Auto mobile exhausts, cigarette smoke , high stress factors and oxidative stress. The oxidative stress causes free radicals which attack the cells of our body and continue to destroy them. This inflammation causes cytokine chemicals and leukotrienes to be released that contribute to the inflammatory syndrome that ultimately destroys joint cartilage and synovial fluid.

Medical science and research is constantly finding ways to slow down the inflammatory process with medications but not correcting the root cause of the problem. A proper protocol to autoimmune disease would be to:

  • Reduce the inflammation
  • Lessen Free Radical Damage
  • Modulate the Immune System.
  • Support the Gastro-Intestinal System,
  • Support Liver Health
  • Reduce Stress
  • Maintain Proper Ph balance in the Gut
  • Correction of Leaky Gut Syndrome

Everyone medical researcher has its own theories about Auto Immune Disease and how to treat it.

I believe one of the major offenders is Leaky Gut Syndrome. We must first understand that after we reach a certain age usually between 45-55, we begin to lack the proper digestive enzymes and intestinal flora to breakdown protein.  Think about when you were 20 years old, out late on a weekend and it is 2:a.m. in the morning on a Saturday night. You and your friends are hungry and decide to purchase fast food such as hamburgers, fries, hot dogs, etc. You have no problem when going to sleep. Think about your age now and could you eat the same foods at that time. Of course not!

Your digestive process would not be able to handle it and you may wind up with heartburn, reflux, joint pain, poor sleep or even loose stools in the morning

There is a syndrome that is affecting most individuals whether they are aware or unaware. This syndrome is called Leaky Gut Syndrome. Leaky Gut is a condition in which large spaces develop in the intestinal mucosa, allowing  toxins, bacteria  and food to leak into the blood stream The result of this is the production of antibodies that launch an attack on the foreign invaders with our own healthy tissues being damaged

An additional thought is that if you lack the proper enzymes to digest protein, this will allow undigested protein to be absorbed and undigested leading to fermentation in the GI system causing gut dysbiosis and food allergies as well.

Treating Auto Immune disease is not a simple task. It takes implementing and understanding all of the parameters previously mentioned and addressing each and every one of them.
